Strimko™ is a logic puzzle with numbers
created and developed by
The Grabarchuk Family.
It is
based on a well-known idea of Latin squares described by a famous
Swiss mathematician and physicist Leonhard Euler (1707-1783)
in the 18th century. In a Latin Square in each row and each column
only different numbers from a predetermined set are presented.
Strimko has the following features.
1. Strimko is a logic grid & numbers puzzle. All challenges
are solvable with a pure logic, and no special knowledge is
required.
2. It is a very simple puzzle concept which uses only three basic
elements: rows, columns, and streams. All elements have equal
numbers of cells, and the goal is to make each basic element
containing the whole(!) set of specified numbers. The main feature
is that in Strimko all grid cells are organized into several
streams of equal length, and mostly Strimko grids contain streams
running diagonally (partly or fully) and even branching. It
creates quite incredible and entangled patterns resulting in
amazingly interesting challenges with winding and unexpected
logic, and thrilling impression.
3. Challenges are quite compact (4 x 4, 5 x 5, 6 x 6, or 7 x 7
grids), so the solver uses a small amount of numbers. Of course,
it can be extended over 7 x 7 grids, but there is no special
reason for that, since even within 5 x 5 and 6 x 6 grids there is
a huge number of hard and extra-hard challenges. To make a
challenge logically solvable, in many cases even a minimal number
of clues can be enough: 3 clues for 4 x 4 grids; 4 clues for 5 x 5
grids; 5
clues for 6 x 6 grids; 6 clues for 7 x 7 grids; and so on. This is another unique feature
of Strimko. |
